More Marriott Resort

Time just ticks away. Tick… Tick… Tick… The cuckoo clock (an original made from the Black Forest of Germany) is ticking away and echoing all over our home. Reminding me that time is essential, especially since I have so much to do. It is hard for me to believe that in approximately 11 weeks = 74 days = 1776 hours = I will be finished with schoolwork altogether!! DT (Demonstration Teaching) will be complete and no more assignments will be due, unless I enroll in a graduate program. I am still debating that one! Still, my mind needs a break. I am going to take a moment and put my focus on something other than school.

I am still working on posting all the resort stuff so here it goes….

The hotel has the most amazing fireplaces indoors and outdoors. We could not help ourselves in joining others to make Smores, what a fantastic treat! Lana loved it! The next morning when we woke up, she asked if we could make Smores and look at the stars again. I know she enjoyed herself very much.

Since we were having so much fun making and eating Smores, we repeated the process quite a few times….I just love burnt marshmallows!

After Smores, we went star-gazing and viewed Jupiter through a telescope. We also saw Orion Nebula and some other interesting stars. We had a nice time. I took this picture during our walk back to the hotel.

As I mentioned in a previous post, the view at night was impressive. Need I say more?

The JW Marriott Resort

The JW Marriott resort was undeniably remarkable. I could have taken a countless amount of pictures, and still would not have been able to capture every detail in sight. I’ll just let the pictures speak for themselves…

I'll post more soon... Keep checking back!

New Year's Get Away 2011

I am having a hard time trying to figure how to start this post. Instead of agonizing over the wording or what pictures to post, let me just put it out there. We decided to bring in the New Year at a resort. I bet your thinking a road trip was involved. Well, we did pack clothing for a couple of days, but the ironic thing is we did not go far, not far at all. We actually live in the neighborhood adjacent to the resort. I have over thirty images to post so I’ll probably break it up over a few different post.

I guess a good place to start is our room and the views, which by the way were incredible!

The JW Marriot is a resort with a PGA golf course, which BJ was able to play 18 holes on one of the two courses available. Not a bad way to bring in the new year…

We woke up early on New Year’s Eve and packed clothing for a couple of days then loaded the truck and drove through the neighborhood in which we arrived in just a few minutes.

I did not book a suite. I wish I would have but since we were only there a short time, it was no big deal. The actual room was small, but the bathroom was uniquely large with a HUGE stand in shower. The only other time I have seen such an elaborate bathroom was when we spent Christmas in Prague. We did have a nice balcony with some incredible views of the pool and golf course.

I like this picture of Jayce, it cracks me up! I have my eye on you! LoL.

The view was nice of the resort’s water park. At night, we slept with the drapes open because the lights sparkling off the pool were relaxing to see. And yes, people were swimming. The temperature outside was in the low 60’s but the pool was heated.

The golf course was peaceful and so beautiful. Living in the hill country part of San Antonio is wonderful, just difficult when out for a jog. BJ did have a cart provided to drive around the course when he played golf.

Lana is adorable in this picture. For the most part, she always has a smile ready for the camera.

Well, I think I made a good start in sharing our New Year plans, but I will have to continue on later this week. Happy New Year, all!

Mom's Christmas Visit

My mom was here for a few days during the holiday. We had a nice time with her as usual. Aside from the Christmas festivities, she played and read books with Lana, and joined in with Jayce on Call of Duty. We baked and cooked. We also stayed up way too late eating snacks and watching movies......

Jayce and Lana waited anxiously for Grandma to arrive. I love this picture of them. Jayce is a terrific big brother; you can see he really loves his sister AND grandma!

Lana was a bit shy at first… Nevertheless, she quickly remembered who Grandma Rain was. I can’t help but to laugh at myself when I look at this picture… I have such a bed head!! (Give me a break, I had been sick.)

My mom had more presents to wrap while here and Lana joined in to help. Jayce, on the other hand, kept wondering when all the wrapping was gonna stop! He He He, not really!

We went to brunch on Christmas Eve prior to having our Christmas celebration. It was a very good meal. Afterwards we went home did some baking, unwrapped presents, and then we watched movies. I have already posted pictures from Christmas, but here are a few from brunch.

During the course of her visit, I took random pictures….

We love you, Mom (Grandma)!!
