Bored = Winter Cleaning

After we took down the Christmas tree, I decided I wanted to rearrange the furniture. The floor plan in this house is not the most well thought out but I do my best to make it work for us. Open arches separate the formal living and family room so the rooms appear more open. We have very large furniture throughout our home so it proves to be a challenge when creating the seating areas, etc.

This go around I thought it would be interesting to switch up the rooms by intermixing the pieces. It is somewhat boring to have all the same furniture pieces in a room. All the colors mix well, and the different textures complement each other. I like pillows so I have a tendency to throw them all around.

I mentioned I was bored?! Yes, I created color sketches of the images! LoL!

Lana got involved in the pictures as well by watching TV. I think those sketch drawings are the absolute coolest. I think I will create a blog post in the future with just the sketches...

Anyway, for the room pictured above, I decided to add a green shag rug that has chocolate brown, taupe, and tan colors and I felt it will really tie those furniture pieces together. However, I switched the pieces back and ended up just rearranging the furniture. I thought it looked good, but It was not the look I wanted.

I like the look of this room like this, but since the other one did not meet my needs I had to change this one again…

Overall, I like this look of this room. Yet, I am going to move the end table to the other side of the chaise and put some sort of tall indoor plant in the corner. Take note, I am not fond of the red wall, but this is not my permanent home and we will be moving in the near future so I am just dealing with it for now. It is a good thing, it matches our décor though, or I would not have any other choice but to change it.

This room turned out great with the new rug and curtains! I really wish I had a even wider-angle lens so you could see the full arches and all. Beautiful.

Santa Came To Town

We must have made Santa’s good list, cause he was extra good to us! LoL! Lana was super excited, scooted down the stairs so quickly she had my mom cracking up! She did not quite understand the Santa concept (mainly because we did not put too much emphasis on it) but, she did understand Toys! She was just a joy to watch this holiday!

xoxo,

Christmas Is Upon Us...

We had a delightful Christmas. It was raining and cold outside, but the fire was warm and cozy inside. It was nice to be able to spend some time with my mom. Jayce and Lana enjoyed having their grandma near to play and goof off with them!

The day was full of laughter and joy. We actually open gifts on Christmas Eve, have a big meal on Christmas day, and relax. I prefer to do some sort of volunteering on Christmas day, but because we were feeling under the weather, I did not get it arranged.

Lana was sure to entertain as she opened her gifts and played with the toys. She was also kind in helping and watching others un-wrap their gifts.

Everyone’s wish list was fulfilled with the exchanging of gifts….

Even more importantly, was the love and gathering of our family to honor the true meaning of Christmas.

Baker In Training

During the holidays, a great deal of baking is happening. My mom and I made this extremely rich decedent gooey chocolate cake. It is a sure way to nick any chocolate craving for sure. Lana kept talking about baking a cake while playing with her new kitchen set she received for Christmas. I had remembered this apron and hat my mom bought for her some time ago so we decided to put it on her. It fit the situation perfectly!

Master Bedroom

The master bedroom in this home is HUGE. The pictures really do not do it justice. We have very large furniture plus my desk in the room and we still have plenty of elbow space.

I have mentioned that I love four-post beds, especially mine. It has so many details and it is such great quality. In case you are wondering Jayce does not have a four-post bed, he has a queen sleigh bed. He got a new bed along with Lana when we moved from Sicily.

I have my desktop computer and printer here in the master bedroom; the laptop is kept mostly downstairs. BJ’s computer space is in the family room upstairs. I really miss having an extra bedroom though.

I am so thankful that our furniture has survived so many moves around the globe.

Cough, Cough. Sniff, Sniff

We caught some sort of flu bug recently, consequently causing us to cancel our most recent plans to Tulsa. My mom did make it here for Christmas and we had a nice time together. Everyone is feeling top notch (except me), I still have a little bit of congestion, but I should be able to catch up on post over the next couple of days…

Lana's Room

I have been feeling under the weather so I have not been taking many photos lately. I thought I had posted pictures prior of Lana’s room, but realized I had not. Therefore, I wanted to quickly post a couple of pictures. Her room is bright, fun, and matches her personality perfectly.

We had purchased her bedroom set shortly after we arrived in the states. She loves her new “big girl” room. The bed is a full size, which is great for her to grow into. I also love the four-post and like the furniture being soft white, it is very fresh.

These pictures were taken at night. I think it will be better if I take some picture during the day so you can really see the softness of the room. I did enlarge the pictures, love it!

Travel Tuesday

I have an immeasurable amount of pictures from our travels while in Europe. I can never decide which ones to post because of all the choices. I do love this picture that was taken in Germany. The beauty is beyond words.

Splish Splash, I Was Taking A Bath

We have an unbelievably huge, deep bathtub in our master bath that Lana loves to soak and play in. Earlier today, I took these pictures of her. She is so adorable I just had to share!

Grocery Shopping Fun

There is never a dull moment with us. No matter what’s happening there is always some sort of excitement. I guess it is just how we roll! Some time ago, I took these pictures with the point and shoot camera, of Lana while at the grocery store. We were at the local HEB, which is an awesome grocery store. It is all about Texas, referring to the Texans way of thinking that Texas is bigger and better! Well, HEB could have coined that expression! Their motto is, here everything’s better.

Lana, like most toddlers, loves balloons! The moment we get the grocery cart and enter the door, she is asking for a balloon. On the majority of occasions a balloon stand is nearby to easily grab one as you enter, but if not, Jayce (if with us) is given the quest to find a balloon. He is the best big brother!

Where is Lana?

Just a little peek… I see you!

Good Eats

We are always in search of a great Mexican restaurant. I must admit, we have been to a countless amount trying to find a place that is comparable to our favorite Mexican restaurant in Perdido Key, Florida. This particular restaurant was pretty good, better than most here in San Antonio that we have tried so far. The atmosphere is vibrant and energetic as they have a live band for entertainment.

I love cheese enchiladas, and the waiter at this restaurant was very helpful in preparing them just as BJ and I like. Jayce is not a big fan of Mexican food, so he ordered a salad along with some sort of lime chicken. I was more impressed with Jayce’s food selection than my own. The salad was way above par.

It is a good thing that we live in San Antonio, because I heard there are many more Mexican restaurants that we will need to try. I’m looking forward to it!

End Of Football Season Gathering

At the end of the football season, the football players, coaches, and parents gathered for a small banquet to celebrate a successful season. Taco Cabana hosted the banquet and parents brought in some desserts for all to enjoy. It was a low-key event and at the end of the night, they had a nice power point presentation. I still want to post pictures of Jayce’s last few games. He played really well, we are super proud of him!

There he is number 31, starting for the freshman Jaquars as strong safety, Jayce!

Cupcakes of all sorts are always a favorite!

Mmm, especially these!

Go Jags Go! Awesome job, Jayce!!
