Be My Guest

Part One

Welcome to our home…. I thought I would share a few pictures and provide a small tour of our “temporary home.” We are renting this home until our home is built. This home is very sweet and I like it a great deal. It has many many things that I love and of course some things that I would not want in my permanent home, but it's working for us for the time being, which I am very thankful.

We’ve been working in the yard, killing weeds, etc. The bare spots are from the brick-landscaping border that was completed prior to moving in.

I fell in love with the landscaping. I think it is very tastefully done. If you look at the porch on the corner near the gutter, you can see a security camera. Actually, multiple cameras are in place around the home and connect to a monitor inside. I think that is a nice added feature to the security system.

The dark stained fencing and stone border is so nice. I especially like the stone border in the backyard.

This formal living was actually the formal dining room, but I do not like the dining room being so far from the kitchen so I changed it to my liking.

The kitchen is very spacious with a huge laundry and pantry off the side. The counter top colors are lighter with earth tones, which is what I prefer. Although, I do not like the light cabinets. As you can see from our furniture choices, I’d rather have darker wood, which is what we will get in our house. I do not like black appliances at all. When we moved in, we had to buy a refrigerator, which is the stainless steel. I’m totally diggin it! Again, we plan to have all stainless steel appliances when we move.

The kitchen is nice and it has a very deep porcelain sink. I’ll have to take some more pictures at different angles to give you a better view. I'm in favor of the ceramic tiles throughout all the wet areas of the home. It's a great neutral color choice!

The family room downstairs is great, and I love our traditional leather pieces. I have not decided on what I am going to do for window treatments in this room. Hmmmm?! I plan on buying a green rug of some sort, I guess when I find it, I’ll know!

I just had to add this picture of our comfy couch, chair, and oversized ottoman. We are glad that we no longer have to sit on the formal pieces just to lounge around… I love bringing out trays filled with snacks on movie nights…

Lastly, a random picture of the fireplace. I love the fact that it is stone and wood burning; totally hate ceramic tile fireplaces with gas. I would have selected a different mantle, but BJ likes it. I have more to share so keep checking back!
