What ? Another Project ?

Last night before going to bed, BJ told me to look outside because we had a delivery. I opened the front door and noticed a stack of bricks on the sidewalk. This morning, I woke up to a crew installing the bricks to our front porch area (with a flowerbed border soon to follow).

BJ has duty tonight, so of course I am snapping away so that he can see this blog post and how the brick makes over the porch area. This has been something we have wanted to do for awhile now, so It was a nice surprise.

The crew was great! They are bringing me back some photos and/or drawings so that I can see how the brick retaining wall will look prior to beginning. I want it to be something different and more original, so he came up with an idea of columns staggered, etc. I’m excited!

From looking at the picture above, I think a flowerbed border will look exceptional. What do you think? Do you have any ideas for the design?

I imagine folks think I’m crazy when I start snapping pictures of them…. LoL!

I love it. It looks pretty and it’s not even completed. It still has to dry for a few days then they will come back and acid wash the brick to remove the dust. I’ll post a picture next week.

Crater Size Hole In Backyard

Our backyard was starting to form a hole in a certain section, I notified the builder, he sent a crew out yesterday to fill in the section with top soil to help level out the area. I imagine we will have to add sand at some point to aid in leveling the whole yard as much as we can. The covenants are very strict in regards to having a proper natural drain area for rainfall, and we live on a slight hill, so there will always be sloped areas in the yard. 

Just finished taking up the grass.

Now we just wait for the new sod to arrive.... I'll post pictures after I get my backyard grass pretty.

Silly Day

We spent a couple of hours outside yesterday at the community party catered by the new builder. Good food and good times… check out the pictures below…

First, I wanted to share the silly drawing of Lana, Jayce, and me. Pretty funny, huh?

Lana jumped and jumped!

A local radio station was out as well. We also played games. I won movie tickets and Jayce won a neat water bottle.

This person had been drawing for 60 years. He did our cartoon drawing in a matter of 5 minutes.

Lana received balloons and face painting.

At first, she did not know what to think about the face painting.

She came around and liked it very much. What a pretty flower for a pretty girl!

Her puppy balloon popped, so she got a new butterfly balloon. We had a nice time. What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

A grand opening, the first of many this weekend, was held last night on behalf of the new builder. This reminds me, I need to post pictures of the party last summer.

This is a smaller home being built nearby, I really like the porch.
