Yard Work

I’ve been changing things in the yard again. The Boxwoods were not growing fast enough so BJ bought me some white Rose Bushes. I think we will be much happier once they fill in the gap in the back. We planted the Boxwoods in the backyard. The Dusty Millers are growing and making a nice border so we decided not to build a brick/stone retaining wall for now. We may change our minds though.

I absolutely fell in love with these Evergreen shrubs! They are so soft and pretty. They are somewhat slow growing, but will be about 8 feet tall.  You might remember we planted a Weeping Willow (fast growing), Red Oak, and multiple Crape Myrtles last fall. Two of the Crape Myrtles are white and two are purple. I am confident that next summer most everything will be full and bright. It generally takes about two years after being planted to look pretty.

Soon, I will be landscaping by digging around the trees and adding mulch, as well as adding some annuals and perennials to give some color and depth to the areas.

Oh, by the way, my herb garden is totally awesome!! It smells wonderful when you walk onto the porch... I'll post some pictures of it later.

Going Green

I decided to paint the back wall an olive green color, which I like very much. I still have touch-ups to complete.  Not to mention, there are many things that I wish to add to tie it all together. For example, a rug, change the light fixture above the kitchen table, and window treatments. Nevertheless, I am taking one-step at a time because I only want to purchase things that I totally love and not settle just to hurry and finish. Thus far, I like it.
