For the past couple of weeks or so Lana has graduated to using a spoon/fork when she eats instead of using her hands and she does not want anyone’s help, she wants to do it all by herself! She is becoming a big girl and is for sure 100% INDEPENDENT! Enjoy the pics!

Taormina, Sicily Part Two

Pictures of Taormina continued from the previous Travel Tuesday Post.

Taormina is full of hidden secrets with tiny passages to fantastic restaurants.

The most famous sight is the antique Roman-Greek theatre which is the second largest in Sicily, in the summer there are also many concerts.



Amazing views all around the theatre. Such a sight to see.

Of course Sicily is the home of the MAFIA and is known for the God Father movies. We had the pleasure of visiting the Bar Vitelli, which was filmed in the first movie, and meeting the owner, Maria D’Arrigo. It was a like a little museum of God Father pictures, articles, etc.

Monday Memories

This photo was taken in 1993 of Kim, Teresa, and me during Easter. This photo makes me giggle every time I see it because only an Oklahoma gust of wind can cause you to lean and have side blown bangs!!! LOL!!

Teresa recently had a birthday so I wanted to extend warm birthday wishes to her as well as post this picture that Kim sent me. I like this photo for three main reasons. First, the angle is fun and quirky which reflects Teresa’s personality. Secondly, Teresa looks so laid back and happy which echo’s her demeanor 99.9% of the time. Third, she is always chomping on ice... hence, the cup of ice in her hand!! Hope you have many, many more wonderful birthday celebrations! Love you!

This week’s FASHION FRIDAY is featuring Lana! The picture quality is not that great, even so, she is still adorable!! A couple of weeks ago she was prancing and twirling all around the store in this cute little dress her daddy bought for her while he was in NYC and Virginia over spring break. I wish these pictures would have turned out better, but I still think she is too cute!

Travel Tuesday

Taormina, Sicily Part One

Taormina, Sicily is simply breath-taking and truly one of the most beautiful places to visit in all of Europe! It encompasses the most favorable shopping extravaganzas with the likes of Prada, Dolce and Gabbana, Michael Kors, and Armani to name a few. Not to mention, delightful gelato bar’s, and wonderful Italian bistro’s. It is by and large a true escape from the modern world to relax while strolling along the cobblestone roads and taking in the scenic ocean views. We have been there a few times and every moment we spend there is magnificent! Taormina will be one of the places I will miss the most when we leave Sicily.

Taormina's street, churches, and residences have a medieval flair and it always leaves a lasting impression on all whom have had the pleasure to visit.

This church (pictured below) is near the center of Taormina which overlooks the Ionian Sea, and was built in the 14th Century.

Excellence Award

Yesterday was the end of school awards ceremony. Jayce is a very gifted writer, so it is no surprise that he was honored with the EXCELLENCE in Language Arts award. One student was selected from each grade level and he was the student that earned it in his grade! Below are a couple of pictures…

Trust Gratitude Inspiration Friday

My blog is really starting to reflect my personality, and as most of you know, I thoroughly enjoy blogging because I have added so many new post ideas (not that I can take full credit for the originality of those ideas) but, it’s a fun way to engage readers and bring creativity to my little corner of the blogsphere. I love my new design and I can't wait till I finish tweaking, I just need to add our bio’s then it will be complete. (At least for awhile anyway). ;)

Moving on to TGIF….

I must admit, I am soooo GLAD it is Friday!!! Today is TGIF Post and I wanted to share this picture. I took this photo while at the gym earlier today, but everyday that I pass this coming and going it inspires me to keep achieving my fitness goals. There is a flight of stairs that lead from the bottom floor of the gym to the upper floor and on each landing there are different billboards like this one.

I’ve also joined a health promotion shipshape 8 week program that meets every Wednesday. And, I will be informing you of my progress along the way. Gee, your so lucky!! I actually signed up a few weeks ago, but my first class will be next Wednesday. It should be exciting! I’ve been slacking lately due to my overwhelming class schedule. So, why did I add something else to my schedule? Because I’m a crazy fool! HA! Seriously, I trust that if I give my total dedication and commitment to stay fit and healthy I will achieve my goals.

Honestly, I don’t have any weight issues or health problems and I am very grateful! As I mentioned before, I have always enjoyed exercising and for the most part I generally eat healthy, except for my splurges with chocolate and other sweets. Hey… chocolate can be healthy?! LOL! Well, I really need to cut back especially after my visit at the dental office today!

Often, people make comments that I don’t need to lose weight, but it’s not always about losing weight. The reason I am so obsessive is because I set a high-standard to respect myself and my body and I do so by educating myself about nutrition and staying active!! More importantly, I feel I should lead by example, and I pray that I influence my children positively. I know that some people may struggle with weight for health reasons and I feel for those individuals. Maybe some of the knowledge I share while in this program will inspire others to live a healthier lifestyle.

My Best Shot Monday

I make the greatest strawberry and banana smoothie in the world!! Since Jayce had oral surgery and was limited to what he could eat, I made him some of his favorite soft foods including this smoothie. So yum!
